Statistics show that 1 in 4 youth in Colorado struggle with serious thoughts of suicide each year. Colorado ranks the 8th highest in the nation for suicide. Suicide is preventable. As few as five therapy sessions can turn a child away from considering suicide as an option. The Second Wind Fund is proud to present the 12th Annual Walk/Run 2013 - the LARGEST youth suicide prevention event in the nation! The Second Wind Walk/Run is on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Golden. - This community event will feature a 5k timed run, 3 mile or 1 mile walk. - All proceeds from this event will directly benefit youth in the community who are at-risk for suicide by helping Second Wind continue to provide free, licensed therapy to get these children healthy and happy again. - Event activities include not only the time 5K run or walk, but also a free BBQ lunch, massages, t-shirts, concerts, kids' activities, and a memorial dove release. - Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt, a free lunch, and entertainment. - After registering, all activities on the fairgrounds are free for you to enjoy! The Second Wind Walk/Run includes kids' activities, vendor booths, free massages, a beautiful memorial dove release, and you will hear music from local groups!
