Name: 4th of July - Golden, Colorado
Date: July 4, 2017
Event Description:
July 4th Golden Lions Park Festival The Golden Lions Club is working hard at organizing and hosting the 4th of July community celebration in Lions Park again this year. This is one of the major ways for the Lions to give back to the Golden community and our country. Activities starting at noon include free rides for the kids, face painting, music by several bands throughout the day, and a large fireworks display in the evening presented by the City. The celebration is designed to be a day for families, friends and neighbors to get together at the beautiful park on 10th Street to picnic or purchase food and drink and enjoy all the festivities. In order to be able to provide free rides and music and entertainment, Golden Lions are selling raffle tickets. Proceeds from ticket sales are used for the most part to fund the event, and any excess goes back into community betterment projects. It is also a way for the community to support the Lions and what they do to make Golden a great place to live, from building the public restroom on 12th Street to baseball dugouts at Ulysses Park and awarding scholarships to seniors at Golden High School. Tickets are 1 for $1 or 6 for $5, you get a chance to win one of the prizes ranging from gift cards, gift baskets, golden history book all the way to the grand prize of $1000 donated by the Lions Club. Also, the tickets are printed with coupons that can be used for discounts and prizes with local stores and restaurants. You don’t have to be present to win. Winners are announced throughout the day with the grand-prize winner identified just before the fireworks. Most of the raffle prizes are donated by local merchants and businesses as their way of supporting the event and the community. The event is truly a community celebration and get-together supported by residents who buy raffle tickets and attend, the City which provides security and traffic control as well as responsibility for the fireworks, businesses which provide the raffle prizes, and the Golden Lions who put it all together. So when you see those Lions in front of King Soopers, Windy Saddle Café, and other local businesses or at the Golden Farmers Market, in their festive gold vests with raffle tickets in hand, make sure you become part of the celebration and buy some tickets. You can also contact Ed Dorsey 303-829-5195 or Ken Park 720-253-6328 to purchase tickets. Most of all come to Lions Park and have fun on the 4th of July!!!!!!
