The JeffCo Innovators' Workshop is hosted by the City of Golden and the IX Power Foundation. The JeffCo Innovators' Workshop is proud to present another "Colorado Women in Innovation" event: ANOMALIES: Pioneering Women in Petroleum Geology: 1917 - 2017 AUTHOR SLIDESHOW, DISCUSSION & BOOK SIGNING Did you realize the role that women have played in the development of Colorado's oil & gas industry? It's phenomenal and key to our state's success. Join us for a presentation (with historic photos) by author Robbie Gries of the wild ride of the brave women who blazed a rough trail of hardship, hard work and heartache. Wednesday, 6:30 pm June 14, 2017 At Golden City Hall, 911 Tenth Street FREE but you must RSVP; space is limited. Refreshments, networking, presentation, and Q & A. Anomalies – Pioneering Women in Petroleum Geology: 1917 - 2017 is a celebration of individual courage, tenacity, and professionalism as well as a timely reminder of our past, when male-dominated professions excluded women. The social structure outside this profession amplified the struggle for equality: the inability to vote, the dictate that women should not work outside the home when married, the pervasive practice of lower pay for equal work, the paucity of advancement opportunities, and the lack of recognition in companies and associations.
