Jefferson Center for Mental Health
offers nationally recognized training
Most of us have been in a situation where a friend, family member, co-worker has experienced a mental health emergency. Often we don’t know what to do help or are worried that if we intervene we’ll make things worse.
Mental Health First Aid is an innovative, hands-on, 12-hour course designed to give you the tools to recognize common mental health problems and the skills and confidence to help someone in a mental health crisis. The program gives participants a concrete action plan to help someone showing symptoms of mental illness or substance abuse until an appropriate professional, peer or family support arrives.
This program has been featured in ABC news, USA Today and NPR. Jefferson Center has been providing this unique training since 2009 and has trained more than 200 people in agencies like Jefferson County law enforcement, Red Rocks Community College, Metro Community Provider Network, Jefferson County Department of Health and Environment and more.
Mental Health First Aid participants comment:
“I think that this is a much needed course for anyone dealing with the public.”
“It was an interesting course that I will be able to put into practice at my job & elsewhere in my life.”
