MUCH LOVED USED BOOK SALE BENEFITS JEFFERSON COUNTY LIBRARIES Looking for good books at bargain prices? Then you’ll want to visit the Jefferson County Library Foundation’s (JCLF) Spring Whale of a Used Book Sale at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, from Friday, May 31, through Sunday, June 2. The sale, which has a more than 20-year history in the community, offers the public more than 80,000 books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl records and many more items with prices starting at $0.50. Plus, admission is free! “This event is always popular with book lovers from throughout Jefferson County and beyond!” said Jo Schantz, executive director of the Jefferson County Library Foundation. “Each year, our Whale of a Used Book Sales help us raise tens of thousands of dollars which in turn benefit the programs of Jefferson County Public Library.” The sale launches on Thursday evening, May 30, with a Friends-only Preview Night from 6 to 8 p.m., and where Friends of Jefferson County Public Library members are invited to shop the sale before it opens to the public. The following morning, May 31, Early Bird shoppers can get in ahead of the crowd from 8 – 9 a.m. for a fee of $10 per adult. At 9 a.m., the sale opens to the public, and there is no admission charge. The used book sale runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1. On Sunday, June 2, the sale is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. “These book sales are a great contribution to the Library and the community,” said Donna Walker, executive director, Jefferson County Public Library. “They allow us to keep Library resources fresh, recycle books and materials responsibly, put books back in the hands of Jeffco residents, and receive Foundation support for Library programs. It’s the best deal going.” Additional Whale of a Used Book Sale Highlights Include: • Half Price day on Saturday, June 1st for Jeffco employees, teachers, and Friends of Jefferson County Public Library (with ID). • Bag Day on Sunday, June 2 – a grocery sized bag of books starts at $6. • Bert’s Weathered and Treasured section is a treasure trove of collectible, rare and highly desirable books priced individually. This event continues to enjoy tremendous support from local sponsors, including our Friends Community Partners: Westerra Credit Union, Bandimere Speedway, Stevinson Toyota West, Pinkard Construction, Bean Fosters, and Etkin Johnson Real Estate Partners.
