Enjoy a luncheon tea with an entertaining and educational presentation by Jack Stone and Katie Lawlor. A light lunch is served at 11:30 am and includes tea, scones, finger sandwiches, and desserts.
We've often admired the finely dressed Victorian ladies in their broad skirts and the gentlemen in their frock coats when seen in old sepia photographs and movies. But what did those ladies and gentlemen wear under their wide skirts and frock coats? Katie and Jack will start off in their Victorian underwear and show you all the layers donned by Victorians 150 years ago.
Ladies, of course, wore many more layers than men, and there were a multitude of rules regarding hats, gloves, fans, and jewelry. Along the way, we'll discuss some interesting - and often amusing - items of Victorian etiquette. Prepare to be amused, entertained, and edified!
Teas are served at the Astor House Museum located at 822 12th Street. Paid reservations are required, and tickets are non-refundable. Call 303-278-3557 to register.
