GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

ROLE.

The Unite Group Fitness Instructors are true fitness pros and provide cutting-edge group fitness instruction through entertaining, educating, and guiding participants through the workout movements, timing/choreography, and progressions and modifications. Promoting fitness and positive self-esteem in a safe environment is of the utmost importance. They act as a fitness resource for class participants and maintain positive, exciting, fun, and welcoming relationships with participants to encourage continued class attendance. The Instructor is responsible for consistently meeting daily class attendance goals and effectively promoting Unite Fitness.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Correctly checks participants into class. Ensures all participants have correctly signed up and have signed liability waiver
  • Develops positive relationships with class participants
  • Guides class through pre-designed workouts
  • Educates class participants on correct form and alternative modifications
  • Attentively listens to members, answers questions, and engages in conversation before and after classes
  • Assist with studio tour and sales as needed
  • Maintain a social media presence to increase class following
  • Cleans equipment and organizes studio space after each class
  • Promotes Unite promotions, programs, products, and services while specifically encouraging participation in classes

POSITION REQUIREMENTS.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Fully Vaccinated for Covid-19
  • Must exude charisma and thrive in a large group environment
  • Must be professional, mature, self-motivated, timely, and dependable
  • Must be currently Barre Certified and able to provide Team Lead with copy of certification. One (1) or more years of fitness instructor work experience.
  • Current CPR/AED Certification
  • Minimum of one of the following Group Exercise Certifications: National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM), American Council of Exercise (ACE), American Fitness Aerobic Association (AFAA)
  • Ability to demonstrate all the exercises, stretches, movements, cleaning, and an aerobic activity for the duration of a class and before and after class
  • Ability to create a high energy, positive environment that welcomes all people
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds

Your Tasks and Requirements.

DRESS.

Please wear professional, high-quality Unite Branded athletic attire. All employees must wear high-quality performance athletic shoes OR non-slip grip socks for Barre, Pilates, Yoga instruction. Make-up and hair is to the coach’s discretion. Please no strong perfumes.

PREPARING FOR CLASS.

  • Please arrive 20 minutes prior to class time to checking-in participants.
  • Greet participants and a open, welcoming, high-energy manner. Special attention paid to new guests!
  • Thoroughly understand all movements, durations, and intervals.

DURING CLASS.

0-4 Minutes: Warm-Up // Lead class through choreographed movements and stretches to prepare for class.

5-7 Minutes: Overview // Describe class format to class. Be sure that they understand what to expect.

7-50 Minutes: Workout // Keep class on track with cueing, timing and transitions. Call out rest breaks and changes in movements. Walk around the room to maintain the hype and excitement as well as offering modifications and progressions.

51-55 Minutes: Cool Down + Stretch // Lead class through choreographed movements and stretches to maintain mobility and safely reduce heart rate. During this time, make any Unite Fitness announcements on upcoming programming changes, events, or promotions.

AFTER CLASS.

  • Encourage participants to return soon.
  • Follow up with first time participants > How was class? Signing up for membership? Come back to my class!
  • Return space and equipment to original set-up or re-set for upcoming class
  • Sanitize all equipment using commercial sprayer.
  • Turn off lights, AV and fitness equipment as applicable.
  • Lock-up.

SMARTPHONES, MUSIC, AND SOCIAL MEDIA.
Low Impact/Barre, Pilates, Fusion Instructors will use their own playlists for classes and will seek input from our employees in gathering new, hot, and high-energy tracks to play in class. No genre or artist is off-limits. We play explicit music and do not want participants or employees to be surprised by this. Finally, we want to play local artists as much as possible.

Unite Fitness encourages our employees to include their positive experiences as a Unite Low Impact/Barre, Pilates, Fusion Instructor or other team member on their social media. All content featuring Unite must convey our core values.

As a Unite Low Impact/Barre, Pilates, Fusion Instructor, you are the face of our company, and your enthusiasm for the gym, you and your friends participating in class, and/or demos of exercises are acceptable for social media content related to Unite Fitness.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $70.00 per hour
